digital dress up

Over my coffee this morning I happened upon an article about schmotter.com - an online version of playing dress up. Although it's very (and I mean very) similar to polyvore, this site has an added feature for users to upload photos of their own clothing and accessories. This supposedly revolutionary idea allows members to manage their wardrobe online, mixing and matching pieces to create outfits that other users can then comment on.

"Our wives had a number of sheds of clothes and could never find the clothes they wanted or what went with what," founder Simon Bednar explains.

Shmotter has just won the "Spark of Genius" award from this social media site - apparently websites can give other websites awards and it means something? Now is it just me or didn't a totally fierce high school girl come up with this concept like, uhhh, in the 1990s. Duh!

Oh yes, didn't we all dream of having Cher's totally stellar rotating closet and super high-tech digital dressing room.

  1. lol!!! obviously a couple of 30 something year old aussie blokes (who think they've invented the wheel) wouldn't have been caught dead watching a chick flik like "clueless" back in the 90's!! Behind the times.. not ahead! Well spotted Jess.

  2. I loved Cher's wardrobe computer program as a teenager (still do actually)... do you think I should try and use this service?

Although i bet Cher had someone who she could pay to upload the pictures of all her items of clothing, where as I would have to spend hours...days...weeks trying to do so with mine....
